Farewell to Korea

Tomorrow I leave Korea to begin my trip back home. I have met many people during these past 3 weeks: My colleagues with whom I have traveled with from America, Australians, New Zealanders, and Korean teachers, students, tour guides, shop keepers. I have made some friends that I know will be in my heart for the rest of my life. This has been a thought provoking trip. I certainly leave more aware of a culture that I knew very little about after been given this grand opportunity to be a part of the Korean Foundation and Korean Society Summer Workshop.

In the days to follow as I unpack my bags, organize photos, and tell the tales of this journey I know new ideas will fill my head. There will be ways of teaching about the heart of Korean culture that will begin to gel. I will be more aware of resources that I can call upon to make interesting lessons for my students as I share what I have been able to uncover.

Now I will end this portion of my blog regarding Korean Summer. I gratefully acknowledge that as I have made acquaintances with the Korean people I have found kind, generous people everywhere.

I am leaving this place a richer person than I came.

Dear Mrs. Garmire:
Happy 4th of July to you! I have enjoyed reading your blog and seeing all of the interesting photos and postings you put on it. It sounds as if you have been having a great experience and will have so much to tell us when you return to the United States. I look forward to seeing you in the fall at Tessera. Have a safe trip home.
Cordially,
Wells Stromberg
